GLANBIA FOODS TO HOLD 15th ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT –
LARGEST CHARITY EVENT IN THE MAGIC VALLEY RAISES
$103,000
TWIN FALLS, ID – August 28, 2007 -- Glanbia Foods hosted their 15th Annual Charity Challenge Golf Tournament August 18th at Blue Lakes Country Club and raised $103,000 for local charities. Over 190 golfers from around the country played in the tournament, fully underwritten by Glanbia Foods.
“We held the first tournament in 1994 as a way to raise money to support Magic Valley charities,” said Jeff Williams, president and chief executive officer of Glanbia Foods. “Since then, we have raised $883,000 dollars which has been given to 36 local charities. Thanks to the most generous support of this year’s tournament participants, we’re proud to donate $103,000 to five organizations,” he said.
Glanbia selected the following charities to receive these funds:
“Our goal in holding this annual tournament is to directly and significantly assist Magic Valley charities who help area residents in so many important ways,” Williams said. “This year’s tournament marks the largest amount we have ever raised. We hope to raise even more next year.”
Valley House Homeless Shelter – For 13 years, Valley House has offered hope and a chance for those finding themselves homeless to gain their lives back by finding employment, permanent housing and by making the life changes necessary to become productive citizens in our community. With Glanbia’s funds, Valley House will complete construction of a new multi-purpose room which will enable them to hold client classes such as parenting, budgeting, nutrition and cooking classes as well as holiday dinners.
Magic Valley School of Performing Arts – The Magic Valley School of Performing Arts is dedicated to bringing the performing arts to the children of the Magic Valley in a safe, positive, and creative environment. Though our private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, and drums, and our many drama productions throughout the school year we are able to not only teach a love for the arts, but mentor students to healthy choices as they navigate their young lives. With Glanbia’s support, students from many diverse backgrounds will be given scholarships that will allow them to learn, grow, and mature.
Idaho Food Bank –The Idaho Food Bank, and its member agencies, is devoted to our Mission to “Lead the effort to end hunger in Idaho”. With the in-kind donation from Glanbia Foods Inc., they will continue to reach its mission and vision.
Filer High School, Track Department –Glanbia’s funds will be used to purchase an automated timing system that will produce faster and more accurate results at track meets.
