IDAHO PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONRECOGNIZES GLANBIA FOODS

TWIN FALLS, ID -- May 19, 2009 -- Glanbia Foods, Inc. was recently recognized by the Idaho chapter of the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP) with their Group Citation Award for its efforts in upholding the company’s mission of focusing on the four business pillars of community, environment, workplace and marketplace.

During IAWP’s recent awards ceremony, they touted Glanbia Foods’ efforts to attract and retain top talent by: providing commuting workers with fuel allowances to offset high fuel costs; motivating workers to carpool by offering a $50 kick-off voucher; putting forth effort and money to support local charities via its annual Charity Challenge Golf Tournament, and for distributing two-pound cheese blocks with $100 bills attached to them for local job seekers on Christmas Eve day.

“By providing for the needs of their employees during volatile economic times, by providing resources to community needs, and by helping those that have lost their jobs, Glanbia Foods shows that they care and go above and beyond the corporate norm,” said Jan Roser, regional economist for Idaho Department of Labor Idaho.            According to Shawn Athay, vice president of human resources and organizational development at Glanbia who accepted this award on behalf of Glanbia and its 650 Magic Valley based employees said, “Recognition and kudos go out to members of our Recruitment and Retention Taskforce for its efforts in developing and putting many of these programs into practice.  Through these various programs, Glanbia continues to affirm that its employees and the communities in which we operate are highly valued by the organization,” Athay said.

Glanbia Foods is one of the fastest growing and most successful dairy companies in the United States and is the largest American-style cheddar cheese manufacturer in the U.S.  Between Glanbia and its joint venture Southwest Cheese, the company processes approximately 20 million pounds of milk everyday into cheese and whey products from three world-class cheese manufacturing and whey processing facilities in Southern Idaho – Twin Falls, Gooding & Richfield -- and Clovis, New Mexico. This results in over 700 million pounds of cheese and 125 million pounds of dairy ingredients annually.
